About
About Wobblejoy
Wobblejoy is a small, independent review site covering free Android games built around two ideas: searching for something buried, and building a mining operation from almost nothing. It is not a studio and not a media company — it is one person, reading Google Play listings, installing games, and writing down what actually happens when you play them.
The site currently covers eleven games split across two hubs — Treasure Hunt Adventures and Gold Mining Tycoon — with a review for every game, a genre page for each hub, and one head-to-head comparison between the two highest-rated titles in the catalogue. That is a deliberately small scope: better to cover eleven games properly than a hundred superficially.
How reviews get written
Every review starts with actually installing and playing the game, not with rewriting its Google Play description. Facts that can be checked externally — developer name, install count, content rating, and Google Play's own star rating where one is published — are taken directly from the game's official Play Store listing and kept separate from anything opinion-based.
The editorial score on each review is a personal, subjective number out of five, formed after spending real time with the game. It is intentionally not copied from, or rounded to match, whatever Google Play shows — the two numbers can and do disagree, and both are shown honestly where they exist.
Screenshots and cover art on this site are taken from each game's own official Google Play listing, never from a generic stock library, so what you see here reflects the actual game rather than a mockup.
How this site is run
Wobblejoy does not run advertising and does not sell placements on any page — there is nothing here to advertise against. The site does not use a contact form, a sign-up sheet, or a push-notification prompt of any kind; the only way to reach the person behind it is the e-mail address on the contact page.
As a one-person project, this site cannot promise the review coverage of a large publication, and it does not claim a testing team or a fixed number of hours per game. What it aims for instead is honesty about what each game is actually like to play, including the parts that get tedious.
Frequently asked
Do you test every game the same way?
No — and we do not claim otherwise. Wobblejoy is run by one person, not an editorial team, so each review reflects hands-on time with that specific game rather than a standardised lab process. Session lengths, difficulty and mode facts on each review are drawn directly from playing the game and from its own Google Play listing, not from a fixed test script.
Where does the editorial score come from?
It is a personal, subjective rating out of five, formed after spending real time with the game, and it is deliberately kept separate from whatever rating Google Play shows for the same title. Where a Google Play rating exists, it is shown as its own fact on the review — the two numbers are not meant to match.
Why do some games have no Google Play rating shown?
Some listings genuinely do not display a public rating yet, usually because the game is newer or has fewer reviews. Rather than guess or round from a similar title, the review says plainly that no rating is published.
How were these eleven games chosen?
All eleven are free to install, genuinely playable on Android, and fit one of the two hubs on this site — treasure hunting or gold-mining tycoons. They were picked for variety within that theme, not ranked against every free game on Google Play.
Does Wobblejoy sell anything or run ads on this site?
No. This site does not run advertising and does not sell placements — there is nothing on these pages to buy. It is a small, independent project maintained by one person; see the about page for how it is actually funded and run.
